Class 4: Memory Care Training with Kris Silverman, NP
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Identify key safety measures and protocols specific to memory care settings.
- Understand the importance of secure entrances and exits and how to prevent elopement.
- Recognize fire safety protocols and how to respond effectively during a fire emergency.
- Implement procedures for handling medical emergencies in memory care units.
- Apply strategies to prevent falls and other safety hazards for residents with cognitive impairments.
MEET THE SPEAKER:
Kris Silverman
Kris Silverman is a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner committed to providing exceptional care to older adults. With over 30 years of experience in Nursing, Kris specializes in managing complex chronic conditions, promoting healthy aging, and enhancing the quality of life for seniors. Kris and her husband Ben own Starfish Care Homes in Tucson AZ which has grown to 6 locations since their first home in 2012. She works closely with patients and their families, caregivers and managers, support staff and other members of the health care team, to provide the best individualized care for each senior. Kris is a member or professional organizations and is committed to ongoing professional development of everyone on the Starfish team.
When she is not in a care home, she is playing tennis or visiting one of their amazing children.
