Class Description

This class provides caregivers with practical strategies to make bathing safer, calmer, and more respectful for individuals living with Alzheimer’s. Participants will learn how to recognize patient behaviors, communicate effectively, and maintain dignity while ensuring proper safety procedures are followed.

• How Alzheimer’s impacts a patient’s perception and comfort during bathing

• Understanding that resistance is often caused by fear or confusion

• Using calm communication and simple choices to encourage cooperation

• Preserving dignity through privacy, proper coverage, and respectful care

• Following essential safety measures during every shower

• Proper steps to take when a patient refuses care, including documentation and nurse notification

My name is Brooke. I’ve been a nurse for nearly two years, beginning my career in a neuro-trauma progressive care unit caring for patients with complex neurological conditions. I later transitioned to hospice nursing, where I’ve found deep fulfillment in building meaningful relationships with patients and their families and providing compassionate, end-of-life care.
